📖Biography
St. Jude Thaddeus was one of the twelve apostles, sometimes called Jude of James to distinguish him from Judas Iscariot. He is believed to be the author of the Epistle of Jude. According to tradition, he preached the Gospel in Judea, Samaria, Mesopotamia, and Persia, where he was martyred with St. Simon. Because his name was similar to Judas Iscariot, early Christians avoided praying to him, leading to his patronage of 'desperate cases' — people turned to him only when all other hope was lost. This association made him one of the most trusted intercessors in Catholic tradition. His emblem often shows him holding an image of Christ's face (the Image of Edessa).
