The Catholic Church teaches that suffering, when united with Christ's passion, has redemptive value. As St. Paul wrote, "I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake" (Col 1:24). God doesn't cause suffering, but through grace, He transforms it into a path toward deeper holiness and compassion.
