📖Biography

Mary Magdalene was a devoted follower of Jesus from whom He cast out seven demons. She accompanied Him throughout His ministry, stood at the foot of the Cross when most disciples had fled, and was the first person to see the risen Christ on Easter morning. Jesus entrusted her with the first proclamation of the Resurrection, sending her to tell the apostles — earning her the title 'Apostle to the Apostles.' Pope Francis elevated her feast to the same rank as the apostles in 2016. Contrary to popular misconception, the Church does not identify her as a prostitute; this confusion arose from a 6th-century homily by Pope Gregory I. Her true identity is that of a faithful disciple, generous supporter, and first witness of the Resurrection.
