Lent

What should I give up for Lent?

💬Answer

The purpose of Lenten sacrifice is to grow closer to God by creating space in your life for Him. Traditional ideas include: giving up sweets, social media, alcohol, streaming services, complaining, or snacking between meals. But the Church also encourages 'taking up' practices: daily Mass, Stations of the Cross on Fridays, reading Scripture for 15 minutes daily, praying the Rosary, performing acts of service, donating to charity, or reconciling with someone. The best Lenten sacrifice is one that (1) is genuinely challenging for you, (2) creates time or space for prayer, and (3) helps you grow in virtue. Avoid choosing something so easy it requires no effort, or so extreme you abandon it by Week 2.
