๐Biography
St. Joseph, a carpenter from Nazareth and descendant of King David, was chosen by God to be the foster father of Jesus and spouse of the Virgin Mary. Though Scripture records none of his words, his actions speak volumes: he obeyed the angel's message in a dream, protected Mary's honor, fled to Egypt to save the infant Jesus from Herod, and raised the Son of God in his humble workshop. Joseph is called the 'just man' in Scripture and is venerated as the patron of the Universal Church, proclaimed by Blessed Pius IX in 1870. Pope Francis dedicated a Year of St. Joseph in 2020-2021 with his letter Patris Corde (With a Father's Heart).
