๐Ÿ“–Biography

St. Cecilia was a noble Roman Christian who consecrated her virginity to God. Forced to marry Valerian, a pagan nobleman, she told him on their wedding night that an angel guarded her purity. Valerian was converted along with his brother Tiburtius after seeing the angel. All three were eventually martyred. According to tradition, during her wedding, while musicians played, Cecilia 'sang in her heart to the Lord,' leading to her patronage of music. Her story inspired countless musical compositions and she became one of the most popular saints in Christian history. Her remains were discovered incorrupt in 1599, and Stefano Maderno sculpted her exactly as she was found.
