Stations of the Cross
The Stations of the Cross is a Lenten devotion that follows Jesus Christ's final journey from condemnation to burial. Through fourteen stations, the faithful walk with Christ in his Passion, meditating on his suffering, love, and sacrifice. This devotion deepens our understanding of what Jesus endured for our salvation.

Opening Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, take me along that holy way You once took to Your death. Take my mind, my memory, my heart, and my will and let me see what You endured for love of me. THE FOURTEEN STATIONS: 1st Station: Jesus is condemned to death V. We adore You, O Christ, and we praise You. R. Because by Your holy Cross, You have redeemed the world. 2nd Station: Jesus carries His Cross 3rd Station: Jesus falls the first time 4th Station: Jesus meets His Mother 5th Station: Simon of Cyrene helps Jesus carry the Cross 6th Station: Veronica wipes the face of Jesus 7th Station: Jesus falls the second time 8th Station: Jesus meets the women of Jerusalem 9th Station: Jesus falls the third time 10th Station: Jesus is stripped of His garments 11th Station: Jesus is nailed to the Cross 12th Station: Jesus dies on the Cross 13th Station: Jesus is taken down from the Cross 14th Station: Jesus is laid in the tomb At each station, pray: Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be Closing Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me to walk with You every day, carrying whatever cross You give me with patience, love, and trust in Your resurrection. Amen.
โฐWhen to Pray
Traditionally prayed on Fridays during Lent, especially Good Friday. Many parishes hold communal Stations of the Cross on Friday evenings during Lent. They can also be prayed privately at any time, especially during times of suffering.

Walk to each station in your church (or meditate on images at home). At each station, genuflect, announce the station, pray the versicle and response, reflect on the scene, and pray the Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be. Let each station touch your heart personally.

The devotion originated with pilgrims to Jerusalem who walked the Via Dolorosa. When the Holy Land became inaccessible, the Franciscans (custodians of the Holy Land) created replicas in European churches. Pope Clement XII fixed the number at fourteen stations in 1731. Pope St. John Paul II introduced a Scriptural version.
