Prayer for Peace

This Catholic prayer for peace seeks God's gift of tranquility for our hearts, our families, and the world. In a time of conflict and division, it draws on Christ's promise of peace—not as the world gives, but the deep, abiding peace that flows from union with God.

Prayer Text

Lord God of peace, hear our prayer. We are tired of war, violence, and hatred. We are weary of broken relationships and divided communities. Grant us Your peace, Lord— peace in our hearts, peace in our families, peace in our communities, peace among nations. Make us instruments of Your peace, as St. Francis prayed. Where there is hatred, let us sow love. Where there is injury, let us bring pardon. Where there is division, let us build unity. Prince of Peace, You said to Your apostles, "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you." Pour out that peace upon a troubled world. May the peace of Christ reign in our hearts, in our homes, and in every land. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

When to Pray

Pray for peace during times of conflict—personal, family, community, or global. This prayer is fitting during wartime, after acts of violence, during family disagreements, or whenever inner turmoil disturbs your soul.

📖How to Pray

Begin by asking God for inner peace, then expand your prayer outward—family, community, nation, world. Name specific conflicts or situations. After praying, commit to one concrete act of peacemaking today. Remember that peace begins within your own heart.
