The 'weeping prophet' Jeremiah was called by God as a youth to deliver an unwelcome message: Jerusalem would fall because of its unfaithfulness. Despite persecution and imprisonment, he faithfully proclaimed God's judgment and the promise of a New Covenant written on the heart.

๐Ÿ“Summary & Overview

Jeremiah prophesied for 40 years leading up to and including the fall of Jerusalem in 586 BC. Rejected by kings, priests, and people, he was beaten, imprisoned, and thrown into a cistern. Yet he faithfully delivered God's message of repentance. His greatest prophecy is the New Covenant (31:31-34), which Jesus fulfills at the Last Supper. Jeremiah's suffering foreshadows Christ's own rejection by His people.
