How do you go to Confession (Reconciliation)?
💬Answer
To go to Confession: (1) Examine your conscience — reflect on sins since your last confession using the Ten Commandments as a guide. (2) Go to the confessional — you may kneel behind a screen or sit face-to-face. (3) Begin with: 'Bless me Father, for I have sinned. It has been [time] since my last confession.' (4) Confess your sins honestly and completely, including mortal sins by kind and number. (5) Listen to the priest's counsel. (6) Receive your penance (usually prayers or an act of charity). (7) Pray the Act of Contrition. (8) Receive absolution from the priest. (9) Complete your penance. The seal of Confession is absolute — a priest can never reveal what is confessed, under any circumstances.
